Terms of use

By creating an account or using Kerouac at kerouacapp.com, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Kerouac is operated by Westenberg.

Kerouac is a writing studio. It syncs publishing activity from platforms you connect, helps you turn ideas into drafts on a board, and can show a public profile and activity graph when you choose to publish one.

Features may change over time. We may add, modify, or retire parts of the product as we ship. We will not use that as an excuse to take away paid access you already purchased for the current billing period without a reasonable path to continue or cancel.

You need an account to use most of Kerouac. You are responsible for keeping access to your email (or Google account) secure, and for activity under your account.

Provide accurate information. Do not create accounts to abuse the product, circumvent billing, or impersonate someone else. We may suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms.

You keep ownership of the writing, ideas, research, images, and profile details you put into Kerouac. You grant us a limited license to host, display, and process that content only as needed to run the product for you — including syncing feed metadata you connect and showing public profile pages when your profile is public.

You are responsible for the legality of what you upload and publish. Do not store or share content you do not have the rights to use.

Kerouac may offer a free trial. After the trial, continued access to paid features requires an active subscription. Billing is handled by Stripe. Prices and plan details shown at checkout are the ones that apply to that purchase.

Subscriptions renew until you cancel. You can manage or cancel through the billing portal linked from the app. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not automatically refund the current period unless required by law or we agree otherwise in writing.

Do not use Kerouac to:

• Break the law or infringe others' rights
• Probe, disrupt, or overload our systems or connected services
• Scrape or harvest other users' private data
• Bypass paywalls, rate limits, or security controls
• Spam, phish, or distribute malware

Connecting a platform only authorizes Kerouac to fetch the public feed or sitemap URLs you provide. Do not connect accounts or feeds you are not allowed to use.

Kerouac is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, perfect sync accuracy from third-party platforms, or that the product will meet every workflow need.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Westenberg's total liability for claims arising out of or related to Kerouac is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-profit damages, or for data loss beyond what we can reasonably restore from our systems.

How we collect and use personal data is described in our Privacy policy. Using Kerouac means you also acknowledge that policy.

We may update these terms. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date on this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. If a change is material and you disagree, stop using the service and cancel any subscription.
